Howard's Record Broken

During the All-Star game, Dwight Howard hit a halfcourt shot that broke a world record. It's the longest shot sitting down. Here's a video of it:

But then, a guy named Dustin Leach hit a shot that was longer. Take a look:

Damn, Shawty!

Needed Big Man

When big men Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla were out for the season with injuries, the Portland Trailblazers were needed with a big man in the paint besides power forward LaMarcus Aldridge. Now just recently, the Blazers just made a deal to ship off point guard Steve Blake and forward Travis Outlaw to the Los Angeles Clippers for center Marcus Camby.

I really think this is a great trade for Portland. For the Clippers, it's okay for them. The Clippers, I believe, were trying free up some cap space. Now they can use their two guards in Baron Davis and Steve Blake now. And with Travis Outlaw, he may be the starting small forward but I think he'll be the backup for Rasual Butler most probably.

As for Portland, they can be powerful in the paint now. Marcus Camby has been an asset in the boards with the Clippers all season. He has been averaging twelve rebunds per game and can also score a bit, too, with about eight points per game. Camby will move from power forward with the Clippers to a center with Blazers, going in front of Juwan Howard. He and Aldridge will be the big men on the floor and the Blazers were in much need of one.

Now they finally have one. And with Brandon Roy coming back soon, the Blazers can be dominant in these 30 games remaining. It was a pretty beneficial trade for both side, mostly favoring Portland, though. We'll see how it works out for both teams now.

No Knowledge

Nobody remembers. Nobody cares. They have no knowledge. After the All-Star game last night, the guys like Kevin McHale and Charles Barkley were discussing in the postgame of who is the player of the decade in the NBA. They did a vote before the game for the fans. The results were in. 54% was Kobe Bryant. Behind him was LeBron, then Shaq, then Tim Duncan, and then Kevin Garnett. Really, all of this was just sad to me. I agree with the analysts: the people who voted probably no nothing about the NBA.

Yeah, sure, Kobe had 81 points and all, but to me the winner should be Shaquille O'Neal. If it weren't for him, Kobe wouldn't be dominate enough and get 3/4 of his rings. Shaq also won an NBA championship with a team that wasn't even destined to: the Heat. And now here is Shaq looking to bring the Cavs to a title most probably. It'll all be booked for them if they bring in Amare Stoudemire.

But nevermind that. Kobe was dominate for half of the decade. Shaq was the realest. What did he win, like four rings this decade or what? Hell, Kevin McHale retired right away when Shaq came into the league and McHale was in his last. And all the years Shaq was with Kobe in the Finals, he was the MVP of all of them. Shaq should've won. Kobe would be on that list, but no way in hell he is the best. Along with that, why LeBron? Why? He didn't even play a decade. Maybe when it hits 2015 he'll be recognized more. This is not the time, though.

And what really bothers me is that Tim Duncan wasn't mentioned that good. Like Shaq, Duncan is a four-time NBA champion and was the MVP in three of them. That's what really really bothers me. Duncan and Shaq have a combined eight NBA rings, six Finals MVPs, three league MVPs, and 27 All-Star appearences. But yet, their combined percentage in the vote was 30 lower than Kobe, who pretty much won only one NBA ring on his own.

And hey, what about Allen Iverson? He didn't even receive a percent! How can a guy who has probably been the most dominate statistically and mentally for the whole time in his career not be mentioned here? How can a guy that is like really 5'10" be so dominate against everyone else not even be honored! Hell, he led a crappy Sixers team to the NBA Finals....all by himself! It's outrageous to me. Nobody I know has played with more heart than A.I.

And Garnett? Please, people. I think it said, what, six percent? Are you freaking kidding me? You really are going to allow that? FOR GARNETT?!!? I can't believe I was actually seeing this. This was a bogus list and bogus votes by the fans. And Steve Nash? What? Only received five percent! Wow. Yeah, sure, 81 points and all that. is one of the best, I have all respect for him, but still, he can't be the best. It was Shaq. Here is my list for the Top Ten Players of the Decade:

1. Shaquille O'Neal
2. Tim Duncan
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Allen Iverson
5. Steve Nash
6. Kevin Garnett
7. Jason Kidd
8. Vince Carter
9. Tracy McGrady
10. Jermaine O'Neal

That's just my opinion. I don't see how you can disagree there. Look at those players really closely and you'll see why they are there. The fans that voted are either Laker fans (doubt it, though) or just people who watch about ten games of the NBA a year and then see the news and listen to what other people have to say and be followers. They don't care. They just picked some guy who's name has been big around here lately.

Please. That's just stupid. Fans that voted, come on! Get your facts straight and together. Seriously.

54 percent!

All Fixed

My final picks are done and I am 4-2 in them. I got the Youth Jam right, H.O.R.S.E., Skills Challenge, and Slam Dunk contest. Got it wrong on the three-point shootout (wanted Channing Frye) and the All-Star game. Oh well.

Good end to All-Star weekend. Nice job! But it was a bit disappointing still. Next year, they need to make up for it big. They need people who actually want to do it. Shannon Brown wasn't even trying along with Gerald Wallace.

FIX IT!
